Ruckersville Animal Hospital's Policies

 Appointment Policy

All visits are by appointment only. If possible, please schedule routine visits well in advance, especially if you need a late afternoon or Saturday appointment, as these tend to book up quickly!
To make check-in a little easier, go to our forms page and print out our new client registration form! It's easy - just print and fill it out. Bring it with you to the hospital on the day of your appointment!

Has your pet been seen anywhere else since he's been to our hospital? Please bring medical records with you!

Surgery & Drop-Off Policies

While we will be calling you the day before to remind you of your appointment, we would like to let you know ahead of time what preparations are needed and what you and your pet may expect the day of his/her procedure.
        It is extremely important that your pet arrive for the procedure with an empty stomach. The reason for this is to prevent vomiting when placed under anesthesia, which would cause serious complications. To prevent this possibility, we ask that you take up all food by 8PM the night before. You must also prevent access to any other pet's food! Water is OK and may be left available overnight.
         When you arrive at RAH between 7 and 8AM on the day of the procedure, our licensed veterinary technician will admit your pet and will go over the procedure, including any pre-anesthetic testing recommended. Please feel free to ask any questions or mention any concerns you may have regarding the upcoming procedure. The technician will also present you with an estimate of the expected costs. At this time you will be asked to leave a 50% deposit (based on the estimate). If your pet is expected to go home the same day, we will discuss a discharge time with you. Be sure to leave an accurate telephone number where you may be reached at any time during the day if we should have any questions or concerns and also so that the technician or doctor may reach you to discuss the procedure's outcome and the pickup time.
         When you arrive to pick up your pet, the technician will visit with you to go over your pet's condition and what you may expect in the next few hours or days in the way of recovery, as well as any medications you may need to administer. The receptionist will present the final invoice for payment in full, and then your pet will be released for a happy reunion with you!
         If you have any questions concerning your scheduled procedure, please do not hesitate to give us a call in advance! 
*Please note: We require all patients admitted to the hospital to be up to date on vaccinations & flea free!

Full payment is due at the time services are rendered.
We are happy to provide you with an estimate of your pet's upcoming visit, surgery or procedure so you can plan in advance.

Prescription/Medication Policy

Please call 24 hours in advance for medication refills. This allows our staff time to prepare your prescription and also will prevent you from having to wait when you arrive for pick up.
