What to do if Your Pet Bites Someone

  • Tell them to see their doctor immediately
  • Report the bite to the local Health Department—You may be asked to quarantine your pet for 10 days
  • Report ANY illness or unusual behavior to your vet
  • You pet MUST be available for observation by the Health Department—don’t let your pet stray from home or give him/her away
  • Vaccinate for Rabies AFTER the quarantine/observation period
